The Live Edge will depend on the individual piece of wood. The edge will follow the natural line of the timber, sometimes this can be quite straight and sometimes it can be "waney". It just depends on individual piece of timber. The front edge will be live edge (please see our FAQ's for a definition) and the back edge is straight. The oak & walnut have “straighter” live edges. If you are wanting a rustic look, with a more gnarly edge, then pippy oak is the best for you. The live edge means that the depth could fluctuate by a few cms. Please note that the nature of using wood/timber is that it may come with splits, knots etc. This is part of the character of the piece especially in the oaks. The honey combing/ cats paw that gives the "Pippy Oak" it's character can be slightly raised or become raised, but this can be sorted by a light, quick brush of sand paper
Please note that as these are made from natural materials, they will all be unique as they all cut from different pieces of timber so no 2 will be the same. As such, we can’t guarantee tone, character or shape as it will depend on the timber available at the time. We use the photos to show the variety as best we can, however these are past pieces so yours will not look exactly like that
Please note that the nature of using wood/timber is that it may come with splits, knots etc. This is part of the character of the piece. The live edge can become slightly raised or become raised, but this can be sorted by a light, quick brush of sand paper.

These can be sent untreated or treated with Odies oil* which ensure your piece is protected from penetrating water/ moisture damage leaving a matte finish. It depends on how you are attaching the fixtures as the treatment can mean that sealant etc might not bond to the wood so it is better to treat it once everything is in situ. Also if you are wanting a glossy finish, then we will need to send it to you untreated for you to use a treatment that will give you the desired finish. If you are wanting to stain the piece to match other wood pieces, then again choose “untreated”. Please feel free to contact us to discuss.
We choose odies as not only is it environmentally friendly (not to mention smells lovely!) but it leaves the wood matte so as close to the natural feel as possible whilst protecting it. Like any wooden piece of furniture (coffee table wooden side board), water left sitting could mark.
Here are a few tips to keep it looking special:
1. Do not leave water to dry on it, treat it like you would a coffee table, even when treated water can mark. The treatment protects it against penetrating water damage but this doesn’t mean water won’t mark.
2. Do not use chemicals on the piece. Any chemicals may affect the treatment used. We don’t just mean the obvious, cleaning products, even soap, shampoo, body wash etc can react with the treatment effectively striping it.
3. You will need to retreat your piece from time to time, depending on use & environment. Give it a light sand down (until any marks disappear) then retreat with your oil of choice.
Ultimately, this is a piece of natural wood & will require care & maintenance, the same as a wooden kitchen bench or coffee table would.
*Odies oil can take up to 2 weeks to fully cure. Care must be taken when using the unit during this time. Please note these are hand made to order items so the lead time reflects this. If next day delivery is chosen, then this refers to the courier service used, the item will not be despatch next day, the lead time remains the same & once despatched the item will be sent on a next day service
These may come with historic woodworm/woodboring holes. Although all the wood has been kiln dried, the oaks have also been treated with EVERBUILD Triple action wood treatment for wood boring insects. This protects the wood against re-infestation but also means that it breaks the life cycle, as, if there is any "activity" (new holes, frass etc), insects that may appear will have had to burrow through the treated wood so will die prior to multiplying & completing their life cycle so will not travel far or be able to infest other wood. So if you do see this, please do not panic but if you have any concerns, please do not hesitate to contact us. However, as with any exposed timber, we recommend a retreat every year with an oil/wax treatment for protection against moisture & a treatment for protection against wood boring insects.
As these are custom made to order pieces, they are not eligible for return or exchange, so if you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact us prior to order.
Very happy with all the work Lisa did on the bespoke bath caddy. Excellent quality and workmanship. Very quick to respond to messages and quick delivery, too. Wouldn’t hesitate to recommend her!

I love my bath caddy. I wasn’t sure what colour to go for and size so I messaged Lisa and she gave me advice. I even sent her a photo as I wanted to wood to be similar to that on the floor. She was super helpful and my caddy arrived on time and well wrapped. I would definitely order from her again. Thank you xx

My daughter loved the tray as it was their 5th wedding anniversary (wood).
I want something similar to one of your products, can you alter it for me?
Short answer- yes! Any one of our products can be adapted to meet your needs, failing that we can create something complete unique to you. Please don't be afraid to ask, as a lot of our products have grown from a client's idea! Just email us at giftswithacherryontop@gmail.com
Can you add personalised text and/ or messages?
Yes, please chose the personalised option on the drop down menu and please ensure that you message us with the exact text and spelling. Please double check the spelling and grammar as we will copy and paste your wording. Please note the following grammatical rules for use of apostrophes when making a surname plural taken from The Grammarist.com: "Making a last name plural should never involve an apostrophe. The members of the Johnson and Smith families, for instance, are the Johnsons and the Smiths, not the Johnson’s and the Smith’s. Last names ending in s are no different. Most nouns ending in s are pluralized by adding es. This applies to last names as well. The members of the Edwards and Doss families are the Edwardses and the Dosses, not the Edwards’s and the Doss’s."
Do you have any more examples/ photos of your products?

Aftercare for wood items
Not too much aftercare is required. All our products are treated prior to despatch but as with any natural product, aftercare is essential to maintain your piece. We would advise re-treating your item as below:
Bath Caddy: Treated with Tung Oil. Retreat every 6-12 months. We would advise not using any bathroom or surface cleaners on the product. The Tung oil is highly alcohol, food and water stain resistant so anything spilt should come off with a damp cloth. If there are any water marks or stains, these usually can be removed with a light sand and then retreatment of the tung oil.
Platters: Treated with Mineral oil. Retreat every 3-6 months (can be treated with tung oil too)
Prior to despatch, we treat the oaks for any woodboring insect infestation. If you do see any activity on your board, please do not panic, these will die and cause no further problems as they will eat the treated wood. We recommend retreating the wood as you would any exposed timber. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to ask.
